Privacy Policy

WoW PvP Rating (wowpvprating.com) is a fan-made World of Warcraft PvP ladder. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment. This page explains what data we process, why, and what you can do about it. For any privacy question or request, message @Theopt_ on Twitter / X.
1. Public game data
We read Blizzard's public PvP leaderboards and character profiles through the official Battle.net Game Data API. For characters on those ladders we store the character name, realm, region, game version, class, race, faction, rating, rank and win/loss counts, as a daily rating history. This is the core of the site and is shown publicly. It is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in publishing ladder statistics that Blizzard already makes public. If you want a character removed from WoW PvP Rating, contact us as described above.
2. If you connect Battle.net
Connecting is optional. When you log in with Battle.net we receive and store:
- your Battle.net account id and BattleTag;
- the list of WoW characters on that account (name, realm, region, game version, class, race, faction, level), via the read-only
wow.profilescope; - when you first connected and last logged in, and whether your character list is public or private;
- a login session: a random token (stored only as a hash) and the Battle.net access token, which Blizzard limits to about 24 hours and which we use only to re-read your character list when you click "Refresh".
We never receive your Battle.net password, e-mail address or payment details, and we cannot change anything on your account. We use this data to show your characters on My Characters, mark them as verified, and track their ratings, i.e. to provide the service you asked for.
What becomes visible to others:
- a "Battle.net verified" badge on your characters' pages;
- your other characters, listed on your verified character pages. This list is public by default; you can make it private at any time on My Characters;
- your BattleTag is never shown publicly.
3. Cookies
We only use cookies that the site needs to work. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.
bnet_session: keeps you logged in, 30 days (only if you connect Battle.net);bnet_oauth_state: protects the Battle.net login against forgery, 10 minutes;admin_auth: site administrators only.
4. Third parties
- Blizzard Entertainment: login (Battle.net OAuth) and game data. Blizzard's own privacy policy applies to your Battle.net account.
- Railway: hosts the website and its database. Like any host, it may log IP addresses and request details for security and operations.
- Wowhead / ZAM: game icons come from Wowhead, but our server downloads and serves them, so your browser does not contact Wowhead for images. Only on character pages, the item tooltip script is loaded from
wow.zamimg.com; Wowhead then receives your IP address and may set its own cookies under its policy.
We do not sell or share your data with anyone else. Servers may be located outside your country.
5. How long we keep data
- Login sessions expire after 30 days and are then deleted automatically.
- Battle.net account data (section 2) is kept until you delete it.
- Daily rating snapshots are kept for the current season; after a season ends they are reduced to one summary (best and final rating) per character and bracket, kept as season history.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR) you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to its processing, or complain to your data protection authority.
- Delete your Battle.net data yourself: on My Characters, open "Delete my data". This removes your account id, BattleTag, character list and sessions immediately. Logging out ends the current session only.
- You can also revoke WoW PvP Rating's access in your Battle.net account settings (authorized applications).
- For anything else, message @Theopt_ on Twitter / X.
7. Children
WoW PvP Rating is not aimed at children. Do not connect a Battle.net account if you are under the age required to consent in your country.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
